Getting Ready for Algebra provides lessons that focus on the California State Standards recommendations for the development of fractions and percents. Fractions are introduced conceptually in second grade. By the end of fifth grade, students have been introduced to the four basic operations of arithmetic and fractions. During sixth grade, the arithmetic operations of fractions are developed, with mastery expected at the end of seventh grade. Throughout seventh grade, students experience fractions and percents in many different contexts as they develop their understanding of the rational number system. The operations of integers have been introduced, developed, and applied to fractional numbers.  Getting Ready for Algebra contains individual lessons covering fractions and their operations at grade level standards from grades 4 through 7. These lessons focus on key fraction concepts that are necessary for success in Algebra.
